Norma Foltz Obituary

NORMA LOIS MANUEL FOLTZ, entered eternal rest, April 23, 2024, surrounded by family, in her home in Camden Delaware. She was 91 years old.  Norma was born in Newport, Rhode Island, on March 17, 1933, to the late Elton M. and Abby A. (Allan) Manuel.

Following her graduation from high school, Norma worked for her uncle in the family warehousing business as an office clerk. After marriage to her late husband, August “Gus” J. Foltz in 1952, Norma worked in multiple states, in various office jobs, using some of the first computers. Norma and her husband settled in Pocomoke, MD after Gus left the Navy. Norma encouraged and supported her husband in his electrical contracting business, while working as a secretary at Chesapeake Corporation in Pocomoke, retiring after 21 years.  After her retirement, she and her husband spent many enjoyable weekends together on their houseboat in Crisfield, MD.  Upon the untimely death of her husband in 1991, Norma found a home in town that she lovingly remodeled.  She resided there until 2021, when her health failed to allow her to live independently.

Norma loved reading, especially about Egyptian history. She loved music, playing records on the stereo and she played the piano at home, instilling her love of music in her daughters. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting, making various items for herself, family and friends over the years.  She donated numerous afghans to Project Linus. Her favorite things to do were shopping and sunbathing, as well as enjoying ice cream as often as possible. Norma loved to laugh, and had a great sense of humor.  While living in Delaware, she became a member of Modern Maturity, specifically the Front Porch program.  She made many fond acquaintances and enjoyed the time she spent with her newfound friends.    Norma had a love for all animals, particularly dogs, and she had several in her lifetime.

As a young woman, she attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, in Newport, RI with her family.  She became a member of Salem Methodist Church of Pocomoke and attended regularly until moving to Delaware, where she attended New Beginning Church of God of Marydel, Delaware.

Along with her parents and husband, Norma is preceded in death by her Aunt Sara E. Allen (Harold), Uncle Edwin Allan, (Florence) and her brother Allan Whyte Manuel, (Norma), and sister-in-law Aileen Watson.

She is survived by her two daughters Karen G. Foltz Martz, (Samuel Jr.) of Felton, Delaware, and Terri L. Mares (Louis “Pepe”) of Ocate, New Mexico.  Grandsons, Jerold A. (Jay) Worth of Princess Anne, Maryland,  Neil L. Worth  (Candice), of Villa Rica, Georgia.  Granddaughters, Bonnie W. Ambellan (Terry), Tracy L. Alcon (Wayne), Adora C.
