William Dickerson Jones-Bey, 77 transitioned to glory on March 26, 2024. William, son of Clarence and Omay Cumberbatch was born on January 20, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York. William attended Automotive High School in Brooklyn, New York and earned a certification as a master mechanic.
William was a loving man who enjoyed being around family and friends. He was known to many as Billy, Bill, Buster Brown and Pop; to name a few. He enjoyed football season so he could watch his favorite team, the New York Giants play. On game day; he would dress in his Giants gear, ready to root for his team. He had a love for cooking and was pretty good at it. In his spare time, you could catch him watching old western movies.
William leaves his family with so many cherished memories. One of the most cherished moments is the conversations he would have with family and friends; using catch phrases like “Cheese and Crackers,” “Got to be more careful,” “A town without a sheriff” and “Moving right along.” You were sure to get a laugh when William was around. The joy and laughter he brought to the lives of so many will not be forgotten.
William is preceded in death by his father and mother, Clarence and Omay; two brothers, Michael and Gary; and two sons, William Jr. and Keith.
William is survived by his children, Gailene, Kyle, Christina (Travis) and Justin; grandchildren, Ariandra (Michael), Tynesha, Tantanea, Michael, Andrew and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Xavier, Aiden, Roland Jr., Makari, Marlee, Chasiti and Matthew Jr.; and siblings, Gloria, Jerry (Lynne), Steven and Carlotta (Joseph). William is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2024 at First Pilgrim Baptist Church, 27 S. Caesar Rodney Avenue, Camden, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Burial will be private. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
